AECOM has an immediate need in Pocasset, MA for a short-term, part-time, on call Marine Archaeologist to conduct offshore Surveys in support of renewable energy capital projects.

Responsibilities include, but may not be limited to the following:

  • Skilled in marine archaeological surveys and archaeological data collection techniques
  • Performs standard scientific work requiring application of techniques and procedures.
  • Detects problems when using standardized procedures because of the condition of sample, difficulties with the equipment, etc.
  • Conducts specific phases of projects for more experienced scientists.
  • Proposes appropriate analytical methods and techniques.
  • Assists in providing advice and consulting services within scope of scientific knowledge.
  • Draws conclusions and makes recommendations based on analysis.
  • Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance.
  • Works under general supervision.

Wessex Archaeology is seeking to appoint Marine Geophysicists (Supervisor/Officer/Senior Officer grade) to join our Marine Geophysics team under the GeoServices directorate, to be based in Salisbury or Edinburgh and exceptionally at other regional offices. This opportunity offers the chance to work as part of the dynamic GeoServices team, which together employs technical experts from a wide range of science disciplines to provide specialist input into projects and deliver a range of services to our clients by applying Earth Science techniques to a wide range of archaeological projects.

While the Marine Geophysics team specialises in support of the offshore renewables industry, we support many other offshore developments and, with a wide range of stakeholders, support for marine Cultural Heritage in the UK and worldwide. The successful applicants would assist in the production and delivery of a range of marine geophysical projects, at Senior Officer grade capability to lead such projects and contributing to team leadership.

The Department of Anthropology at Texas A&M University invites applications for a full-time, nine-month, non-tenure track Instructional Assistant Professor position in Nautical Archaeology, starting in the Fall 2020 academic semester. The successful candidate will be expected to teach three undergraduate courses per semester (Fall and Spring semesters). Courses in the Fall semester include Historical Archaeology, Archaeological Artifact Conservation, and Analytical Archaeology; courses in the Spring semester will be determined at the time of appointment based on the candidate’s expertise and departmental needs. The successful candidate will also be expected to assist with the operation of the Conservation Research Laboratory, as well as the administration of the department’s MS degree in Maritime Archaeology and Conservation.
