Funded MA and PhD positions in Maritime Archaeology at Koç University, Turkey.

Associated with the Department of Archaeology and History of Art (ARHA) at Koç University, Turkey, the Koç University Mustafa V. Koç Maritime Archaeology Research Center (KUDAR) offers funded MA and PhD positions to applicants interested in pursuing research topics in maritime archaeology.  Past and current student research topics include ship graffiti in mosques, Byzantine-era timber supplies for shipbuilding, amphora stamps and patterns of distribution, Roman-era maritime landscapes in the Adriatic, and using responsive 3D printing for loss compensation in archival and museum environments. 

We are seeking applications for our MA and PhD positions from individuals who can propose their own innovative research topics, or applicants who may be specifically interested in ship iconography, imagery, and graffiti in Turkey.  In both cases, applicants should include a detailed research proposal within their application materials.  For more information about the center and the application process, please visit the KUDAR website (https://kudar.ku.edu.tr), or contact Matthew Harpster (mharpster@ku.edu.tr) or Michael Jones (mjones@ku.edu.tr).
