Martin Klein Award for the Development and Application of Technology in Support of Underwater Archaeology


The Advisory Council on Underwater Archaeology is pleased to announce the ACUA Martin Klein Award.

This award of $1,000.00 (USD) will be awarded to an individual at any stage in their career that has developed and/or used technology in the service of underwater archaeology.

To be eligible for consideration, nominees and nominators for this award must currently be an SHA member in good standing.

To nominate* or be nominated for this award, the following must be submitted:
1. Curriculum vitae of nominee
2. One-page cover letter. This letter must demonstrate how the nominee has developed or applied new technology or applied traditional technology in new or innovative ways.
3. If a current student, a letter of support from a professor or other professional mentor is additionally required. *Individuals can self-nominate.
Submissions will be judged by a committee of the ACUA including Martin Klein.

All award application materials must be sent to the ACUA at info@acuaonline.org by September 24, 2026.
