You will serve as a Supervisory Historian (Deputy Branch Head) at the NAVAL HISTORY AND HERITAGE COMMAND.

Duties

  • You will serve as principle advisor to the Histories Branch Head on historical programs, projects, and policies.
  • You will lead and direct production of U.S. naval historical products.
  • You will assist the Histories Branch Head in supervising three supervisory historians including QA/QC’ing high-level work products.
  • You will plan, develop, and oversee creation of monographs, books, articles, information papers, and memoranda that provide historical background, data, and analysis relevant to current U.S. naval activities.
  • You will assign, track, review, and provide responses to historical inquiries from senior Navy leaders and OPNAV directorates.
  • You will oversee the planning and execution of oral history interviews with Navy leaders and planners.
  • You will maintain liaison with Navy Staff offices and other NHHC branches/divisions for the purposes of planning historical projects and delivering timely historical support.
  • You will assist the Histories Branch Head in evaluating performance, handling administrative taskings (pay, leave, training, and other personnel actions), and managing select Branch and section-level programs and priorities.
  • You will mentor junior personnel in order to develop an agile team of naval history experts, improve retention, and maintain morale.
