RESOURCES FOR GRADUATE STUDENTS
Welcome! We are an organization that prides itself in creating an inclusive, welcoming environment for graduate students. NASOH provides several means of support for the next generation of specialists in maritime history, archaeology, and maritime studies.
Chad Smith Student Travel Grants assist students traveling to and delivering a paper at our annual meeting.
The Clark G. Reynolds Student Paper Award is provided each year to the author of the best paper by a graduate student or students delivered at the society’s annual conference. The prize will consist of assistance in publishing the essay in The Northern Mariner (the journal cosponsored by NASOH and the Canadian Nautical Research Society), a membership in NASOH, and a certificate.
James C. Bradford Dissertation Research Fellowship awards $1,000 for students dissertating in US naval or North American naval and/or maritime history. Applicants must have completed all requirements for the Ph.D. at the time of application. Topics in all periods of United States and North American naval and maritime history are eligible.
