This position is with the American Battlefield Protection Program (ABPP), National Park Service (NPS). The mission of the ABPP, as directed by Congress, is to assist citizens, public and private institutions, and governments in planning, interpreting, and protecting sites where historic battles were fought on American soil.
Remote Duty Station within the following states: AL, CT, DC, DE, FL, GA, KY, LA, MA, MD, MS, NC, NH, NJ, NY, PA, RI, SC, TN, VA, VT, WV.
The major duties of the Archeologist, GS-0193-12 position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Carries out program responsibilities under Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act, including analysis, documentation, and correspondence for grant undertakings and for program alternatives and protocols with state, local, and tribal governments.
- Evaluates grant proposals and products to ensure compliance with Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Historic Preservation, as applicable, and provides programmatic support and assistance to grants management specialists.
- Manages digital data, including spatial data, for ABPP grant program staff in use and maintenance of database and geodatabases.
- Conducts analyses of program outcomes and outputs, responds to Congressional and other directive and inquiries, and recommends program policies to achieve program mission.
