I have a short term (5-month) full-time position through the Scientists in Parks (SIP) program for employment with the NPS Submerged Resources Center/NPS Ocean and Coastal Resources Branch to assist us with a NOAA Ocean Exploration-funded battlefield survey at War in the Pacific National Historical Park in Guam. This would be an ideal position for a student who is finished with classes and is only working on their thesis or a recent grad. Could you send it to both current students and alumni?
The SIP will spend one month in Guam with us doing fieldwork in July/August, and four months working on desk-based activities, such as GIS tasks, report writing, transcribing oral histories, historical research, etc. The desk-based work could be fully remote, but the SIP would also be welcome to relocate and work from the NPS OCRB office in Fort Collins, CO if they preferred. The SIP would not be required to participate in diving activities, but if they are AAUS-qualified, diving could be a possibility.
Here is a link to the position description and application: Natural Resource Management Assistant at Conservation Legacy (breezy.hr), as well as some additional info about the Scientists in Parks program: Scientists in Parks – Science (U.S. National Park Service) (nps.gov). The application deadline is January 22nd 2023.
If anyone has questions, they can reach out to me directly at anne_wright@nps.gov.
Thanks in advance!
