We are looking for someone to teach an optional postgraduate module, offered to our MA programmes, including the MA Classics, MA Classical Civilisation.
The module, taught over 10 seminars, 1.5 hours each, explores the relationship between the Greeks and the sea in the archaic, classical and Hellenistic periods, through a close examination of key literary texts, such as Herodotus, Thucydides, drama, the Old Oligarch, Callimachus’ Hymn to Delos, Ps.Scylax Periplous, amongst others. The module is offered to our MA Classics and MA Classical Civilisation students and is also available to our History and Archaeology students.
The candidate will have a relevant qualification equivalent to the teaching level. Desirable candidates will have a PhD or equivalent in Classics or Ancient History (or equivalent) and experience of teaching at MA level. Supervisory experience would also be an advantage.

Remuneration:
Payment is based on an hourly rate depending on length of continuous service with the College (starting rate £61.68 per hour inclusive of pro-rata London Allowance and holiday pay) for contact hours worked. This hourly rate is based on the starting point of Grade 7 and is inclusive of a ‘Duties Related to Teaching Multiplier’ which covers preparation, teaching, administration, assessment marking and other examining duties in connection with the course.
