Are you passionate about London’s history and how the public can engage with it? The Museum of London Docklands is looking for a Senior Curator who will be responsible for all of the displays there, with a particular focus on the future of the London, Sugar and Slavery gallery – the only gallery in London to tell the story of the transatlantic slave trade and its continuing legacies. The Senior Curator will work closely with a Curator (Community Engagement) and the Learning and Engagement team to deliver a compelling and innovative programme, including working closely with external partners.
You will act as a key member of the Docklands Strategy Group, liaising with key internal teams including the Managing Director. The Senior Curator will also take a leading role in the activities of the London, Sugar and Slavery Advisory Group, and will be responsible for developing proposals for the next five years of the LSS gallery.
You will have expert knowledge of the history of London’s maritime trade and / or its relationship to Empire, colonialism and transatlantic slavery. You will also have significant experience of participating in public history, communicating to a wide and diverse audience.
