Heritage Victoria is responsible for the most important non-Aboriginal heritage sites in Victoria by leading the protection and conservation of the cultural heritage of the State.

The Senior Maritime Archaeologist will lead a specialist team delivering Heritage Victoria’s statutory functions relating to underwater cultural heritage. The position will have delegated decision making under the Heritage Act 2017 and support the Executive Director, Heritage Victoria in their delegated role under the Commonwealth Underwater Cultural Heritage Act 2018. The Senior Maritime Archaeologist will represent Heritage Victoria in matters relating to the protection and management of Victoria’s maritime cultural heritage through approval and compliance processes, provision of specialist technical advice and delivery of programs to identify, monitor, assess and manage underwater cultural heritage places.
