The Department of Liberal Studies at Texas A&M University in Galveston invites applications for a tenure-track position in maritime history, broadly defined, beginning September 1, 2019. We will consider applicants from all subfields of history, but the successful candidate must be willing to align her/his scholarship to address the maritime special focus of the campus. We are looking for an engaging and committed faculty to teach two seminal courses, History of Seapower and US Maritime History, which are critical gateways to the successful retention of students across a broad group of degrees. The successful candidate will also be asked to contribute to the core curriculum in history. Applicants must demonstrate promise of distinguished scholarship and excellent teaching. A Ph.D. in History is required at the time of appointment.
