Intro to Underwater Archaeology offered

TRAVERSE CITY — Northwestern Michigan College will offer an Introduction to Underwater Archaeology course during spring semester 2008, beginning Jan. 11 at the Great Lakes Campus.

This course, which does not require field work, will provide students with an introduction to theory, method, technologies, and practice in underwater archaeology, with a focus on prehistoric and historical sites, worldwide and in the Great Lakes, inland lakes, and streams of the State of Michigan. Course content will draw primarily from anthropology and the applied social or behavioral sciences. A Ph.D. instructor of record and knowledgeable guest lecturers will present the curriculum in a classroom at the Great Lakes Campus of Northwestern Michigan College.
