The IMASS Committee manages a fund that supports continuing education in the field of maritime research, by promoting seminars and courses associated with our annual Shipwreck Conference. The fund was set up in memory of two former members, Roy Davis and Neville Oldham.
The fund will sponsor up to four UK university students (undergraduate or postgraduate) who have an interest in maritime history and archaeology. The fund will cover:
- Day ticket to the conference held on Saturday 6th February 2027at the University of Plymouth*
- Lunch at the conference
- Post conference evening meal at the Crown Plaza Hotel
- Day ticket to the event workshop held on Sunday 7th February 2027
- Standard travel to-from the conference and accommodation in Plymouth (if required)
The students will have an active part in the event organisation ‘behind the scenes’ throughout the weekend, including setting up for the conference the Friday evening with an opportunity to meet the committee, speakers and trade stands.
To apply for sponsorship, please complete the attached application form and return to fran.hockley@plymouth.ac.uk by Monday 29th November 2026. Students will be selected by the IMASS committee and notified by Friday 3rd December 2026.
