Drawing on historical and archival research, archaeological investigations, and museum collections, maritime archaeologist Dr. Jason T. Raupp explores the industrial system and working environment aboard American whaleships during the “golden age of whaling,” from 1815 to 1860. His talk will examine the organization of labor, the tools and processes adapted from centuries of European whaling traditions, and the physical evidence that helps archaeologists reconstruct life and work aboard these ships. Register and ask Dr. Raupp your questions.
