2023 AAUS Diving For Science Symposium
Hosted by the University of West Florida
23-29 April 2023 in Pensacola, Florida.
Join us in the nation’s oldest city as we celebrate AAUS history and dive into our future.
We are excited to celebrate the history of AAUS as we welcome diving scientists, students, diving safety officers, and anyone with an interest in diving science! The week will be filled with instructional workshops such as Serious Accident Investigation, both topside and underwater; technical workshops including technician certifications, underwater photogrammetry, and acoustic imagery; diving workshops covering surface supplied diving, low visibility, and managing divers with acoustics; tours of an underwater ancient cypress forest, the historic San Pablo shipwreck, and “the great carrier reef” USS Oriskany; and much more. Following the workshop opportunities and social/networking events, we will wrap up the week with the national DSO meeting, science symposium, and annual awards banquet, featuring our Keynote Speaker.
Check out the full symposium website for more information on the program offerings, abstract submission, accommodations, diving and more. Workshops highlighted in yellow below are late additions as of February 15, 2023.
Note: Instead of a large room block as we have done in previous meetings, this location lends itself to many housing options. We do have a few small room blocks available, but we are encouraging you to book the lodging of your choice in and around Palafox street. While this allows you to have many options based on your price and desired amenities, it does require that you book early! On the Accommodations page , you will find a list of room blocks and other suggested properties. Lodging blocks close March 24th! There is ample parking downtown, paid and free options, however, if possible, we encourage you to find lodging within walking distance of Palafox Street (Downtown Pensacola) to take full advantage of this beautiful city.
