Purpose: To advance the Connecticut River Museum’s mission and vision by developing and delivering educational programs. The Educator is responsible for the development and delivery of unique, high-quality diverse, and inclusive educational and curricula that, in general, encourage river stewardship; foster a sense of devotion and delight in the Museum and the River; illuminate the River’s cultural and environmental history; capitalize on innovations in interactive programming and technology; reflect the Museum’s values; and, are safe and fun. Programs take place on land and on board Onrust, RiverQuest and a smaller watercraft, and in area schools. The Educator will work with the Assistant Director to build on CRM’s strong program foundation to grow audiences, engage diverse and underserved populations, and extend the Museum’s reach upriver. This position requires a demonstrated skill and experience in creative educational program development and implementation; teaching/museum education; establishing strong collaborative relationships with schools, teachers, and families; and, working with a team to realize a common vison. 21/hours/week. As a member of CRM’s Management Team, the Assistant Director is responsible for the development, delivery and administration of unique, high-quality diverse, and inclusive educational and public programs that, in general, encourage river stewardship; foster a sense of devotion and delight in the Museum and the River; illuminate the River’s cultural and environmental history; capitalize on innovations in interactive programming and technology; reflect the Museum’s values; and are safe and fun. Programs take place on land and aboard Onrust, RiverQuest and a smaller watercraft and in schools. The Assistant Director will build on CRM’s strong program foundation to grow audiences, engage diverse and underserved populations, and extend the Museum’s reach upriver. This position requires a demonstrated ability in creative program development and implementation, teaching/museum education, establishing strong collaborative relationships with community organizations, families, schools, teachers, board and staff, building effective teams and leading them towards a common vision.
