GIS Specialist – Frederick, Maryland

R. Christopher Goodwin and Associates, Inc., a full spectrum cultural resource management company, has an immediate opening for a GIS Specialist in beautiful downtown Frederick, Maryland. The position provides GIS, GPS/GNSS and remote sensing support for the Nautical Division. The candidate must be proficient with ESRI ArcGIS Pro 3.0 (including Spatial Analyst and 3D Analyst extensions) and possess knowledge of geomatics, including geodesy, spatial analysis (including viewshed and predictive/suitability modeling), and cartography. Additionally, experience with spatial metadata standards (FGDC CSDGM, ISO 19115), data models (SDSFIE, SSDM), python scripting and field data collection (ESRI Field Apps, Trimble GPS units/Pathfinder software) is highly desired. 

The successful candidate will work alongside a talented team of Nautical Archaeologists and fellow GIS Specialists collecting, analyzing, and visualizing spatial data, including remotely collected seabed data (side scan sonar, magnetometer, sub-bottom profiler, etc.). Typical duties include creating field and report maps and mapbooks, conducting spatial queries and calculations, performing spatial analyses, processing, and managing spatial data, developing workflows, designing spatial databases, generating metadata, and providing GPS support for field operations.

Minimum qualifications include a B.A./B.S. in GIS/Geomatics and two years of experience working with environmental engineering or cultural resources  (. Familiarity with cultural resource management projects and nautical archaeology is a plus.
