The project geoscientist is responsible for assisting in the functional setup of hydrographic sensors that provide high-resolution, remote-sensing survey data. Remote-sensing geophysical instruments commonly used on these projects include multi-beam and single-beam bathymetry systems, side scan sonars (deep-towed and conventional), magnetometers, pingers, boomers, seismic systems and autonomous underwater vehicles.
- Working knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS, Global Mapper, or equivalent mapping programs is preferred.
- Proficiency with a variety of field concepts, practices, procedures and equipment operations such as GPS, Side Scan Sonars, Multibeam, Subbottom profiler, and Magnetometer systems.
- Familiarity/experience with survey processing software such as CARIS, Sonarwiz, Edgetech Discover, Fledermaus, Hypack, Qimera etc.
