1) USS Kidd Veteran Memorial & Museum, a National Historic Landmark, and a proud member of the Historic Naval Ships Association and the Louisiana Association of Museums is seeking an exceptional candidate to serve as Executive Director.
The Executive Director is responsible for development, execution and management of policies, programs and initiatives of the memorial, as directed by the commissioners, and consistent with the memorial’s mission.
The applicant must provide leadership characterized by an ability to engage commissioners and major stakeholders, develop and empower staff, build credibility, carry out plans and imbue a culture of professionalism and accomplishment.

3) Oregon Sea Grant Program Director

Oregon State University is recruiting for a 12-month full time Oregon Sea Grant Director.  Oregon Sea Grant was founded in 1968 and is based at OSU. Oregon Sea Grant supports research, education and public engagement to help people understand, responsibly interact with and conserve ocean and coastal resources and communities. The Director is knowledgeable about current coastal and marine issues important to the state and the nation and will broadly oversee inclusive planning processes that identify diverse and innovative approaches to set program priorities.

Required qualifications include a Master’s Degree or a terminal degree in a field relevant to the Sea Grant Program strategic plan, demonstrated successful leadership and managerial experience, success in securing internal and external funding for instruction, research, service and outreach, proven experience and commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration, an ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of stakeholders, such as university administrators, academic unit leaders, faculty and staff, legislators, government agency leaders and the public with strong communication and interpersonal skills, and an international reputation for achievement meriting appointment as a tenured full professor. Preferred qualifications include an earned PhD in a natural or social science field, demonstrated successful leadership in the strategic planning and management of a large and complex organization or research program, experience with fundraising and development, experience in liaison with local communities and a commitment to high quality and innovative research, outreach and extended education.  Salary is commensurate with education and experience.

The position is based at the NCDCR QAR Lab, East Carolina University, West Research Campus, approximately 10 miles west of downtown Greenville. Position is responsible to the Queen Anne’s Revenge Lab Director/Underwater Archaeology Branch Chief Conservator and will work cooperatively with others in the QAR Project team.  The QAR Lab Manager will facilitate efficient and effective work at the QAR Lab including through management of lab supplies, equipment and records in support of all aspects of work for documentation, investigation and conservation, of archaeological artifacts recovered from a marine underwater environment. This can involve participation in recovery of artifacts from the shipwreck site of Queen Anne’s Revenge (QAR) and treatment and documentation through their transfer to museum. The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum seeks a highly motivated individual to fill the full-time position of Collections Assistant. This person will report to the Collections Manager and work with the larger Exhibits Department to fulfill the mission of the Intrepid Museum. The Collections Assistant will support all aspects of the Collections Program including accessioning, policy development and exhibition preparation. Within the Collections Program, the Collections Assistant will focus on the artifact collection. This position requires organization, strong communication, physical agility and a can-do attitude.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Assist with the day to day collections tasks which may include: housing and preparation of documents and artifacts, fabrication of mounts, exhibit installation, preventive conservation and research assignments.
Cataloging of incoming object acquisitions and new collections items discovered onboard.
Participate in the photographing, scanning and digitization of artifacts, documents and photographs.
Enter detailed, appropriate and accurate data into the Museum’s database, TMS.
Assist in the relocation and proper housing of artifacts.
Participate in collections review meetings to determine proper status of various collection items.
Aid in the research and development of collections policies.
Perform other duties as required by management
The ideal candidate will have a BA/BS, MA preferred in Museum Studies, History or other relevant discipline and a minimum of 1-2 years museum registration and/or collections experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. This person will have experience with object handling and preventative conservation; knowledge of accepted museum registration and collections management procedures and practices; experience with collections management databases (TMS preferred), cataloguing standards and controlled vocabularies. The candidate must be technically literate, including experience with digital photography and the processing and management of digital media. He/she must have strong organizational, interpersonal and computer skills. The candidate must be able to maneuver through dimly lit narrow passageways, climb up/down steep ladders and move heavy collections objects with assistance. Ability to work weekends, holidays, and evenings as necessary.
