Underwater Archaeologist

Underwater Archaeologist, URS Corporation.

M.A. or M.S., in Anthropology, Nautical Archaeology, or related field, and a minimum 9 years of underwater and terrestrial archaeological experience including shipwreck documentation, ship reconstruction, and archaeological conservation; must meet Secretary of Interior (SOI) standards (36 CFR 61) in archaeology. The candidate will have DAN O2 training, SCUBA First Aid and CPR training with AED, dry suit training, and Advanced Open Water and Rescue Diver certifications. The candidate will be well versed in standard and advanced underwater and nautical archaeological techniques for all phases of archaeological investigations with specific experience with underwater pipelines. The candidate must be prepared for field, lab, and office tasks, including data analysis and report writing within a NEPA or European ESIA regulatory environment. Successful candidate will have demonstrated skills in the successful execution of underwater archaeology and marine remote sensing projects. The candidate must have supervisory experience on all phases of archaeological projects, as well as skills in personnel and project management and must have excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication, data organization, attention to detail, and logistics coordination skills; must be able to mentor and guide staff in underwater/nautical projects. Field projects could be located anywhere in the US and will include overseas deployment; travel will be required. Valid Driver’s License required. Candidate will have demonstrated capability to write technical reports, and writing sample will be required. US Citizenship requirement because of work on federal contracts.
