7) Curator, Connecticut River Museum in picturesque and historic, Essex, CT is offering a great opportunity for a Curator. Winning candidate will work with the retiring Senior Curator for four months. The Curator would then assume all curatorial duties & responsibilities including research, exhibition development and implementation, collection development, education support and collections care & management for well-focused library, photo, object and small craft collections devoted to history in the Connecticut River Valley. A hardworking, highly competent candidate will have a degree in American History and 3 to 5 years’ experience in collections management and exhibition development. Looking for a multi-tasking, team player with installation skills, computer competencies, speaking & writing excellence. Grant writing experience and a background in maritime field and/or environmental history considered a plus. The Connecticut River Museum is an accredited, regional museum located in an historic steamboat warehouse on a spectacular waterfront location. The Museum, founded in 1974, has four galleries, off-site collection storage, aggressive exhibitions and public programs schedule and a small staff. First year salary to mid-30’s.
