LG2 Environmental Solutions (LG2) provides a wide range of quality, responsive environmental services across the United States. Their capabilities include archaeological and cultural resource assessments (terrestrial and underwater), natural resource assessment, and management.
LG2 has an immediate opening for Temporary Scientific Divers in Jacksonville, Florida, for a variety of federal, state, and local agency clients. Projects may be located throughout the United States or the Caribbean, with a majority currently in the Southern Atlantic coastal region.
This is an on-call, hourly position. Hourly rates are industry competitive and based on Scientific Diving experience. The ability to travel and work on short notice is necessary, as projects arise. You will not be required to relocate to Jacksonville, Florida, for this position, but you will need to be able to travel to project destinations as needed.
This role is subject to a client-mandated drug/alcohol testing policy. A copy of the client-mandated drug/alcohol testing policy will be provided during employee onboarding and is available upon applicant request.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Marine Biology, Archaeology, or a related field with focus on marine environments. Internship available for degree-seeking students.
- First Aid/CPR certified
- Able to complete and pass a Dive Physical
- Certified Open Water SCUBA Diver, with additional certifications preferred.
- Completion of field experience for biological divers; additional submerged archaeological field school experience is preferred for some projects.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in variable terrain and environments.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- A valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation
- Potential to obtain a government security clearance if required by the project.
Expected Skills and Knowledge:
- Must be able to complete AAUS swim test
- The variety of fieldwork phases, including site reconnaissance and monitoring.
- Ability to meet, or current in exceeding, guidelines set forth by the American Academy of Underwater Sciences (AAUS), including swim qualification and annual dives.
- The federal and state laws, regulations, policies, and procedures for the preservation and management of natural and/or historic/cultural resources.
- The basic underwater biological or archaeological field and laboratory procedures.
- Understand how to sight with a compass, and how to pace underwater for navigation.
- Take detailed and accurate field documentation records. Including field notes, photographs/video, and all other project documentation.
- Perform quality control of all field data daily to ensure information is accurate and complete.
Compensation Range: $14.50- $18.50
