Curator

Mel Fisher’s Shipwreck Treasures, the renowned treasure salvage & sales operation in Key West, Florida, is seeking a passionate and dedicated Curator to join our team. We are looking for an individual with a deep appreciation for maritime history, archaeology, and the legacy of Mel Fisher’s legendary treasure hunts.

Qualifications

· Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and the Internet

· Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively

· Attention to unique artifact details primarily for Spanish colonial coinage a must

· Ability to work independently as well as part of a team

· Positive attitude and working well with others

· Strong customer service skills with the ability to handle inquiries and resolve issues professionally

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the curation, preservation, and display of artifacts, including Atocha and Margarita treasures.
  • Conduct research to authenticate and document artifacts, ensuring historical accuracy and provenience.
  • Collaborate with our treasure acquisition team to locate and acquire authentic shipwreck artifacts to be added to our collection.
  • Manage collections, including cataloging, storage and assist in the maintenance and long-term conservation of artifacts.
  • Manage the organization and distribution of artifacts to our members.
  • Perform other general office duties and assist with special projects, as needed

*Must currently reside in the lower Florida Keys.

*Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
