The University of St Andrews and the award-winning SCAPE team are looking for an ambitious Project Manager / Post-Doctoral Research Fellow to work on projects around Scotland’s coast. The successful applicant will be an archaeologist with a PhD or significant professional experience in archaeology, heritage management or related subject; and proven experience in project management or public engagement.
The successful candidate will work on the CoastArch project, funded by Historic Environment Scotland (HES). The project focusses on Scotland’s eroding coastal heritage, and involves working with the public on coastal surveys and practical projects.
The primary duties will include:
- Organising and delivering coastal surveys
- promoting public engagement with Scotland’s coastal heritage
- developing new activities
- contributing to reports and conference papers
- helping prepare grant applications.
- The successful candidate will also be involved in University activities (for example, teaching or student supervision), and the job offers an opportunity to join the UK’s top-ranked university (Guardian, Times and Sunday Times University Guides, 2024).
- The post is based in St Andrews but will involve frequent travel and away.
- This full-time position is available for 24 months initially, with a start date of 1st February 2024 (or as soon as possible thereafter).
