As a Supervisory Historian, you will perform the following duties:
- Apply expert knowledge of the concepts, principles, and methodologies of maritime archaeology and culture resources management to participate in heritage partnerships and internal advisory services.
- Direct, project and study, and develop, analyze, and evaluate new or revised program and management policies.
- Has full supervisory authority over the Office of National Marine Sanctuaries (ONMS) maritime heritage staff of fellow historians, archeologists, program managers and officers.
- Oversee, advise and execute program mandates and requirements under the National Historical Preservation Act (NHPA) and meet the Secretary of the Interior Professional Qualification Standards (36 CFR Part 61) to support archeological field studies, support significant assessments to determine if sites are eligible for the National Register of Historic Places and to support assessments for Section 106 compliance under the NHPA.
