This position is located in the Office of the Associate Administrator for Strategic Sealift. Maritime Administration (MARAD).

As a Historian, you will:

  • Apply professional knowledge of historical principles, concepts, research sources, methodology, and techniques sufficient to provide expert advice, interpretation, and guidance on merchant ship and naval ship history.
  • Implement policies that document significant historical events and document missions and other noteworthy events, preserves the record, and provides historical perspective to decision-makers, which is critical to making informed decisions.
  • Conduct research, evaluation, and interpretation of material relevant to the subject, and for agency actions.
  • Independently gathers, reviews, and critically evaluates sources to provide well-written and concise historical narratives.

The Ideal Candidates performance is oriented, productive and able to provide the documentation and interpretation of MARAD’s history and in the management of MARAD’s heritage asset collection.
