Description: Qualifications: BA/BS in teaching, history or related field. At least two years experience in teaching or similar work in a museum environment.
Duties: The Assistant Educator is responsible for planning, development and teaching of various educational programs in relation to interpretation of maritime history and the Museum’s collections. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
1. Plan and develop standards based educational programs and curriculums suitable for the schools that utilize the Museum. Work with curatorial and other departments as necessary to produce programs and teaching units on changing and permanent exhibitions, maritime themes and collection items.
2. Offer in-service courses to teachers and others to assist them in teaching maritime topics.
3. In collaboration with other departments, assist in planning, developing, and promoting Museum’s weekend education programming.
4. Assist in planning, developing and promoting Museum’s overnight programs.
